The combination of wooden and aluminum profiles
Protective aluminum profiles on the outside, covering adapted standard frame profiles and wooden casement windows, as the most represented type of combining wood and aluminum, will more and more be used, especially in housing.
The advantages of windows that became by an optimal combination of two valuable materials are as follows:
good stability, durability, easy maintenance and reparations, firmness and easy maintenance of the external surfaces against all atmospheric impacts, a great range of paints for the external processing, as well as of wood suitable for defining the colouring in keeping with that of rooms, a great choice of shapes and sizes, environmental acceptability (wood is a renewable material, and aluminum can be fully recycled), good thermal insulation, excellent characteristics as for construction physics (concerning noise, warmth, stability, improved static characteristics), which allows the reduction of overall profile dimensions, whereas the interiors provide natural atmosphere pleasant for dwelling.
In the process of the manufacturing of windows combining wood and protective aluminum profile, it must be ensured that the great thermal dilatations of aluminum profiles, which are exposed to extreme temperatures on the outside, are received and amortised in such a manner that they have no negative effect on window quality. Also, wooden profiles must be provided with proper airing from the outside; in other words, aluminum profiles must be constructed and installed in such a fashion that air can continually flow behind them as well. The external elements must be covered, and they must not reduce the intersection of wooden profiles.
